We see so much publicity about weight loss weight gain too little too big what’s healthy what’s not. All this information health warnings obesity anorexia what is acceptable what is not. I feel this gives us a clue that there is generally a whole lot of hidden agenda for people who are seeking support with weight loss who have struggled to maintain what is optimum and healthy for them as individuals.

My experience and observations in this area has show time and time again that those extra layers, kilos have secondary gains, benefits that clients are often not aware of consciously. The extra weight provides a safe haven protection comfort from sometimes what the client fears the most.

One of my positions as a Registered Nurse was at a clinic in Sydney that specialised in treating Anorexia and other eating disorders. Very extreme and disturbing for me to observe the absolute dread the clients had around anything that contained calories passing their lips and god forbid reaching their stomachs. A disease of deception the experts claim as the mind could trick these clients weighing as little as around 30kg into believe they were morbidly obese.
