About Me
I was introduced to this field of work quite by chance and have been so grateful, not only for myself, but also for all the clients I have supported in the last 30 years of private practise.
I was employed as a registered nurse at an Environmental Medicine Centre in Sydney. The centre provided an environment for clients with severe allergies and chronic fatigue to detox and do a series of allergy tests. The programme involved a four-week course and in that time clients had the option to do sessions with a visiting hypnotherapist. I was astounded, as the results so clearly showed that the clients who chose hypnotherapy did so much better overall than those clients who had not. I was totally hooked and wanted to know so much more about hypnosis and how these results had occurred.
The therapist used varies techniques, some as simple as visualizing T cells helping to fight the allergens and toxins, to addressing underlying factors and stressors influencing the clients immune system.
This began my own journey to study and understand as much as I could about Hypnotic Sciences and how to apply what I have learnt in a clinical setting. The past 25 years have been both rich and rewarding and I feel I have been fortunate to study with the masters in this field. In 2014 I completed a Diploma of Modern Psychology and have been excited to add Neuro Linguistic Programming and Life Coaching to enhance the outcomes clients achieve from the sessions.
Over the years a very common theme when clients ring to enquire about what is involved in the sessions is their frustrations about feeling stuck and helpless. Some clients have a deep understanding of themselves and their repetitive behavioural responses, but find they keep falling into the same hole time and time again. Why is this so? The subconscious mind has not been engaged in their attempts to change. Imagine your mind like an iceberg the tip what we see representing conscious mind and all that remains underneath the subconscious mind. Lasting change and behaviour shifts occur when the state of mind in hypnosis allows you to bypass the conscious critical faculty and establish selective thinking. A little more insight into the critical faculty that may assist you in understanding this concept more. For me it was a light bulb moment!
The critical faculty of your mind passes judgement and analyses incoming information. It rationalises and reasons and places boundaries on what is possible or achievable based on limited information. Imagine the possibilities for change when this factor is bypassed and selective thinking occurs.
Excited? I hope so, as so much can be achieved with the use of these techniques.
